장고 분노의 추적자!

 

쿠엔틴 타란티노 영화 중 제일 재밌게 봤다.

 

유튜브에 영화 감독과 주요 배우들이 모두 모여 자신의 생각을 이야기하는 인터뷰 영상이 있어서 소개한다. 인터뷰어가 있지만 후반에는 관객(기자나 영화광으로 보이는)의 질문을 받고 답하는 식으로 진행된다.

 

영화는 미국인들이 입에 담기 싫어하는 노예제도가 있던 시대와 지역에서 펼쳐진다. 무거운 주제를 재치있고 흥미롭게 담아낸 쿠엔틴 타란티노 감독에게 박수를.

 

영상에 영문 자막이 들어가 있지만 중간 지점부터 싱크가 맞지 않는다. 영어(자동생성)으로 설정하고 영상을 보면 좋다.

 

영화에서 브룸 힐다를 연기한 배우 케리 워싱턴의 말을 들어보자.

 

I think a lot of times people in the past may have felt neverous about a playing a slave. Because so many of the narrative that we've told in film and television about slavery are about powerlessness. And this is not a film about that. This is a film about a black man founds his freedom and rescues his wife. He is an agent of his own power. He is a liberator. He's a hero. And so there's nothing shameful about that. It's really exciting and hopeful and inspiring. There were two thing I mean I was very moved by the love story. Particularly in a time in our American history when black people were not allowed fall in love and get married. Because marriage that kind of connection got in the way of the selling of human beings. So to have a story between a husband and wife at a time when black people weren't allowed to be husband and wife was not only educational but again hopeful and it's a that we've seen this love story million times about star-crossed lovers. It's just that they don't come from two different Italian families like 'Remeo & Juliet'. The thing that stands in the way of them being with each other is the institution of slavery. So Django goes out to get his woman and he's got to take down slavery to get her take down the Calvin Candie.

 

이 영화는 노예제도에 관한 영화가 아니고 흑인 남성이 그의 자유를 찾고 아내를 구출하는 영화라는 말이 모순적이면서 일부러 노린 건가 하는 생각이 들었다. 한 영화에 출연한 배우들이라 할지라도 각 배우가 처한 상황이 다르고 그들이 영화를 보는 시각은 모두 다를 거니까. 그런 의미에서 브룸 힐다의 눈으로 본 자평인가 싶었다.

 

내 시선으로는 무거운 주제를 깔아놓고 쿠엔틴 타란티노 영화 특유의 생동감과 재미를 그 위에 올려놓은 느낌이었다고 할까. 그래야 배우들의 연기와 연출이 더 빛날 테니까.

몇몇 배우들은 말의 속도가 무척 빨라서 들리지 않는 말도 있다. (내가 좋아하는 배우가 아니라면) 이럴 때는 그냥 지나치자. 자막은 영어로 선택하지 말고 영어(자동 생성)으로 선택하는 게 좋다. 싱크가 맞지 않으니까.
